“Over an eight week period, specialist rescue instructors from RNE delivered bespoke work and rescue at height Continuous Professional Development training for qualified Hazardous Area Response Team operatives from North East Ambulance Service.
Working in conjunction with ABLE UK, realistic training scenarios were conducted on the decommissioned BRENT-ALPHA oil platform.
Here, specialist HART Paramedics were able to develop their clinical practice in the Safe Working at Height environment as well as gaining experience in rope-enabled access and casualty evacuation.
Operating in a live industrial environment such as this developed each candidate’s risk assessment strategy.
This also provided valuable experience of working alongside industry-based responders, promoting safe working practice in the resolution of industrial incidents.
Thanks go to ABLE UK and Shell U.K. for their valued participation in this project”
